From the Architects:

When Stripes Group was planning a move out of their stodgy Midtown office and into a new, sleek space in New York City’s cutting edge Meatpacking District, they called ICRAVE. Stripes Group is a leading growth equity firm that makes $10-100 million investments in Internet, Software, Healthcare IT and Branded Consumer Products businesses. Working with the likes of Art.com and Seamless, Stripes Group was looking for an office that didn’t feel like an investment firm. Their new space occupies three floors which divide various programmatic elements – from private executive offices to communal meeting spaces – with special attention paid to interconnectivity to foster collaboration. ICRAVE’s design and lighting teams focused on statement-making materials and contemporary lighting solutions.

This includes reclaimed wood from century-old New York City water towers; custom dyed, antique Persian rugs that match curated artwork throughout the office, including pieces from Leroy Granisand and Hans Van Der Meer; a unique “plant-like” green fixture in the reception area made by Vitra; and concrete that both offsets the warm wood and serves as a canvas for painted signage on the floors. The client invested heavily in the newest lighting technology. Lighting was used to interconnect this multi-floor experience with floor-specific lighting solutions, while addressing energy consumption and maintenance concerns. Reflecting imagery of linear lights in clear glass partitions play into the collaborative energy and playful spirit for this non-conventional client.
