Victorian Style Gets a 21st Century Makeover For a London Home

Victorian Style

Notting Hill based Studio Duggan from London took a new approach to the Victorian Style while shaping their latest residential project. The Reddings a four bedroom family house interior project was designed with a sentiment of the Victorian era, nevertheless modern as well as cozy.

Studio Duggan worked very closely with the client to replicate the blue print of a period property. The palette is warm and neutral with punches of colour introduced with the use of layered fabrics and key furniture pieces. There is a strong emphasis on wood – dark oak flooring was specified throughout the house – inducing the warmth and authenticity characteristic of a period style house. Meticulous attention has been given to the introduction of key period features evocative of colonial style influences and interiors. The entrance hallway, replete with Terrazzo encaustic floor tiles, was built to create a delayed reveal and impactful first impression – instead of walking directly into the living room as the previous layout. A stunning, limestone fireplace was constructed into the wall of the living room along with bespoke oak and metal framed cabinets to each side, one concealing the TV. Nearby a wooden, custom made, 3-metre wide bookcase, creates a cosy library area, complete with Julian Chichester soft leather armchairs. – from Studio Duggan
