From the Architects:

B2 is the first of three new residential towers envisioned to cradle the Barclays Center arena, and is part of the $4.9 billion, 22-acre Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn. The three new residential buildings will rise along the southern and eastern elevations of the arena site fronting Dean Street, Flatbush Avenue, and 6th Avenue, and will contain a total of approximately 1500 units of new residential housing. B2 contains 350 units and at 32 stories will be the tallest modular building in the world.

To address the requirements of the Design Guidelines established by the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC), a series of setbacks were articulated and integrated into the buildings’ massing. A variety of materials, colors, and fabrication techniques create an intricate play of light, pattern, and texture over the façade of the three volumes. At street level, covered entrances to the towers are integrated with full story glass storefronts, in a structure typical of the neighborhood streetscape.
