Dolce&Gabbana has opened a new boutique on Madison Avenue, setting a clear tone for its future presence in New York. Located in a historic building along one of the city’s most prominent retail corridors, the five-story space introduces a mix of architectural elegance and brand identity. The project continues the label’s collaboration with American architect Eric Carlson and his Paris-based studio, Carbondale.

Carlson’s approach favors refined materiality and spatial clarity. His latest work for Dolce&Gabbana does not rely on excess, but instead distills the essence of the brand into form and proportion. From the glass-wrapped penthouse to the black granite staircase, every element speaks to a desire for balance between structure and movement.

Exterior Transparency and Vertical Energy

From the street, the building immediately draws attention with its clean vertical rhythm. Double-height windows stretch along the facade, framed by architectural elements that accentuate the boutique’s stature without overwhelming it. At the top, a luminous glass penthouse completes the elevation, creating a sense of lightness above the structure’s solid base.

The design relies on transparency to draw people in. Rather than conceal what’s inside, the boutique uses glass expanses to offer a glimpse into its interior atmosphere. This architectural openness pulls Madison Avenue’s energy directly into the store, without sacrificing the privacy of a curated retail experience.

Five Levels and a Singular Staircase

Inside, five levels unfold in open, linear layouts. A sculptural black granite staircase anchors the space, curving through the building’s core and rising to a skylight above. Natural light filters down, interacting with the staircase’s polished surface to create a dynamic play of reflections and shadows.

The stairway does more than connect the floors, it shapes the boutique’s flow. Rather than hide vertical movement, the design celebrates it, encouraging exploration from level to level. Each floor presents a distinct arrangement, yet the continuity of materials and light provides visual cohesion throughout the interior.

Material Contrast and Urban Texture

The boutique’s design team embraced contrast as a guiding principle. Absolute Black granite meets acid-etched sapphire glass, creating a rhythm of texture and tone. The use of these opposing materials evokes the balance of light and shadow found in classic photography.

Wood display cases in eucalyptus offer a softer counterpoint to the granite and glass, while steel elements and furniture in bouclé and black velvet introduce tactile warmth. Together, these materials define the boutique’s spatial identity, polished, refined, and unmistakably connected to the textures of New York.

A Full Range of Collections

Dolce&Gabbana’s Madison Avenue flagship brings together the brand’s complete offering. Men’s and Women’s Ready to Wear collections share space with accessories, fine jewelry, and watches. The Casa Collection also has a presence, reinforcing the brand’s interest in design beyond fashion.

On the second floor, clients can access the Sartoria service for Made to Measure tailoring. This level of customization deepens the in-store experience, allowing visitors to engage with craftsmanship at a personal scale. Elsewhere in the store, the Beauty collection adds another layer, fragrances, including the exclusive Velvet Collection, invite guests to explore Dolce&Gabbana through scent.
