NOËL & MARQUET makes its independent debut at Milan Design Week 2025 with Galerie Rouge, an installation developed in collaboration with Milan-based collective studioutte. In the heart of the Brera Design District, visitors encountered a room fully immersed in rich burgundy, a chromatic environment designed to present the brand’s architectural mouldings in an entirely new way.
Built as a modern-day glyptotheque, the installation draws from classical exhibition spaces while staying firmly rooted in contemporary design. Studioutte crafted the concept as a sensory space, a jewel box, where colour, texture, lighting, and symmetry come together to challenge conventional approaches to wall decor. Every detail, from the custom paint finish to the spatial rhythm, contributes to an experience shaped by visual precision and architectural intent.

Custom Surfaces with Sigma Coatings
To support the spatial and chromatic effect of the project, Sigma Coatings provided the deep red lacquer used throughout the installation. The brand’s Sigma Contour Aqua PU was specially formulated for this environment, delivering a smooth finish that improves the material quality of the space. As a long-time supplier of architectural coatings, Sigma’s involvement adds technical consistency and aesthetic control to the installation, ensuring the surfaces retain their intensity throughout the week.

From Classical Motifs to Contemporary Walls
NOËL & MARQUET’s wall panel selection plays a central role in Galerie Rouge, offering a diverse mix of sculptural surfaces created with designers like Bertrand Lejoly. At the forefront stands DORIQUE, a panel inspired by Doric columns, reinterpreted through clean vertical lines. Its variant, DORIQUE FLEX, introduces flexibility, adapting to curved walls and cylindrical forms. Both reinterpret historical references without nostalgia, aiming instead to connect ancient motifs with contemporary architecture.

The CANELÉ series builds on modernist and Scandinavian references. CANELÉ S features gentle reliefs that subtly alter a room’s proportions, while CANELÉ L adds depth with its larger-scale rhythm. When combined, the two formats create a controlled yet dynamic visual field.
The ARC panels recall design language from 1970s interiors. ARC S presents a vertically stretched curve, while ARC L pushes the effect further with rounded, fluid geometry. Together, they propose a reimagined version of traditional wainscoting with a sculptural dimension.

Decorative Profiles and Modular Lighting
NOËL & MARQUET also showcases its architectural profiles, including cornices, skirtings, chair rails, and lighting elements. Each piece allows designers to define and reframe a space with precision. Among the lighting profiles, IL8, designed by Michaël Bihain, stands out with its clean lines and LED compatibility. It earned a Red Dot Design Award in 2020. The compact IL12 profile, also designed for LED integration, works across various surfaces and introduces a gentle visual rhythm.
Profiles like the Z52 cornice and Z13 and Z1360 chair rails offer additional architectural features. Z52 introduces shadow blocks through its geometric structure, while the chair rails allow designers to build frames, divide colours, or develop pattern systems within a space. The FL2 skirting completes the set with a minimalist solution for floor-to-wall transitions, adding a subtle finish to any room.

Studioutte’s Vision for Interior Architecture
Founded in 2020 by Guglielmo Giagnotti and Patrizio Gola, studioutte brings a warm minimalism to architectural design. Their work often draws from Italian traditions while maintaining a pared-back approach that balances structure and expression. For Galerie Rouge, the studio’s language takes shape through architectural symmetry, colour control, and spatial modulation, allowing the decorative elements to speak without distraction.
