The Milanese fashion house ETRO has unveiled interior designs for its first residential development in Southeast Asia, marking a significant expansion of the brand’s lifestyle footprint beyond fashion and into the rapidly evolving branded residences sector.

A New Chapter in Branded Living

Situated within the 33-acre Gardens of Eden sanctuary in Phuket, Thailand, ETRO Residences Phuket represents the Italian house’s translation of its distinctive design vocabulary into permanent living spaces. The project, developed by Amal Development and designed by branded real estate specialists The One Atelier, comprises just eight exclusive residences positioned steps from Bang Tao Beach along Phuket’s coveted west coast.

The collection offers three-bedroom apartments spanning approximately 222 square metres and three-bedroom penthouses of approximately 438 square metres, establishing one of the most rarefied residential offerings currently available in the region.

Design Language Rooted in Heritage

ETRO’s visual identity, cultivated since Gerolamo “Gimmo” Etro founded the house in Milan in 1968, has long centered on expressive pattern, rich texture and a chromatic boldness drawn from global travels. The paisley motif, introduced in 1981 following Gimmo’s journey to India, became the brand’s signature, informed by an archive of 150 antique shawls dating from 1810 to 1880.

The newly released interior renders reveal how The One Atelier has reinterpreted these codes for residential application. Rather than literal translation, the design team has extracted the essence of ETRO’s aesthetic heritage, balancing its eclectic sensibility with spatial clarity suited to tropical living.

Materiality and Craft

Italian artistry permeates every surface. Bespoke furnishings curated by ETRO Home Interiors, created in collaboration with ONIRO Group, anchor the interiors alongside sculptural forms and custom detailing drawn from the brand’s extensive textile archive. Velvet upholstery, artisanal wood finishes and marble surfaces introduce tactile depth, while curated palettes of oceanic blues, forest greens and sun-washed neutrals respond directly to the surrounding jungle, sand and sea.

Master bathrooms showcase Italian craftsmanship through expressive materials and tailored detailing, while living spaces and master suites demonstrate how ETRO’s visual codes translate into colour, texture and spatial composition calibrated for daily life rather than seasonal collections.

Landscape as Foundation

The Gardens of Eden master plan dedicates more than 70 percent of its acreage to nature. Lakes, shaded walking trails and tropical gardens weave through the development, establishing an immersive landscape that prioritises wellbeing, privacy and connection to the outdoors. The positioning along Phuket’s west coast, bordered by forest with views toward the Andaman Sea, places residents within one of the island’s most refined coastal corridors while maintaining proximity to cultural, culinary and lifestyle amenities.

Experience-Led Amenities

The amenity programme extends the experiential philosophy throughout the development. Residents access yoga lawns, meditation trails and a sequence of pools designed to offer distinct sensory experiences: rainforest outdoor pools, long lake pools and beachfront swimming areas each calibrated for different moments throughout the day.

Concierge services, personalised health programmes and curated brand moments connect residents to ETRO’s wider world of fashion, art and culture while preserving the retreat atmosphere that defines the development’s character.

Market Context

The project arrives amid unprecedented growth in the branded residences sector, which expanded nearly 20 percent in 2025 alone. Southeast Asia has emerged as a focal point for this expansion, with Thailand positioning itself as a luxury property hub attracting global brands seeking to extend their lifestyle propositions into permanent living environments.

Branded residences in Asia reached a record value of $30.7 billion in the first half of 2025, covering nearly 39,000 units across 178 projects. The sector’s 176 percent growth over the past decade reflects shifting consumer expectations around luxury living, with buyers increasingly seeking environments that deliver emotional resonance and lived experience rather than mere square footage.

Leadership Perspectives

Fabrizio Cardinali, CEO of ETRO, positions the project as an authentic extension of brand values: “ETRO has always stood for boldness, quality craftsmanship, and self-expression. With ETRO Residences Phuket, we wanted to transform these values into a lifestyle experience that feels authentic and deeply connected to our DNA.”

Aleksandr Chuvalov, CEO of Amal Development, emphasises the integration of architecture, landscape and wellbeing: “Gardens of Eden was created as a sanctuary for residents, a place where architecture, landscape and wellbeing coexist in balance. ETRO Residences Phuket embodies this philosophy.

Michele Galli, CEO of The One Atelier, articulates the design approach: “Branded living today is about creating environments that resonate emotionally through a lived experience. The interior design at ETRO Residences Phuket tells a unique story through quality materials, proportion and light.
