From the architects: A house on the beach is the perfect place to unwind and refresh, and the owners of this beach needed a refresh for their clients. Using a photography studio as inspiration, we choose a neutral palette of black and white to give the typical beach house an edgy look. We incorporated existing midcentury modern pieces with some new finds and accessories to turn this beach cottage into a sophisticated destination.
The biggest change in the Master Bedroom was a dramatic accent wall in black, which provides a stark contrast to the white wood interior. The wood midcentury modern bed and nightstands were updated with new bedding reflecting the black and white palette. A new flatweave rug and accessories, and a unique sconce round out the space.
The biggest selling point in this property is the expansive deck and views. To take full advantage of that, we reworked the layout to provide areas for lounging, socializing and eating. New outdoor furniture in gray and white and with midcentury lines coordinates with the indoor style, and fresh succulents in modern black pots add some color to the space.
