Alcova Miami opens its doors for a new chapter during Miami Art Week, welcoming visitors from December 2 to 7 inside the Miami River Inn. The exhibition settles once again into the historic 1908 property in East Little Havana, a cluster of pastel structures framed by palms, timber porches, and quiet garden pockets that soften the pace of the surrounding neighborhood.

This edition runs daily from 11 am to 7 pm and brings together more than 40 exhibitors who activate the River Inn’s network of Victorian-era mansions. The original boarding house plan guides the flow through narrow walkways, intimate porches, and rooms that each house a distinct project or intervention. The exhibition focuses on materials pushed through experiments, process-based research, and approaches that sit between analog tools and emerging technologies. Exhibitors examine how substances respond to heat, pressure, and repeated handling. Their works demonstrate how structure can shift through technique and how ongoing trials can create new directions for form and surface.

Haworth and Patricia Urquiola, serving as Main Partner for Alcova Miami 2025, establish a central gathering point within the River Inn’s oval courtyard. They convert the turf into a defined open zone marked with a large pink grid, adding a visual anchor that supports conversations and movement through the site. Elsewhere, exhibitors turn toward cultural references that inform their methods, including Colombian Indigenous knowledge, Japanese approaches that focus on memory, and practices tied to the Swiss textile industry. Italian techniques such as cloisonné enamel, earth-cast bronze, and Murano glass appear through several works, each handled through individual research.
