If you are buying a new mattress in 2016 you may need some help deciding which type is best for you. There are plenty of things to consider including price, comfort and durability. It’s always worth remembering that a mattress you pay a relatively small amount of money for may end up not lasting as long as a mattress which costs more. On balance, you may end up saving money by making your initial investment a little higher.

We are going to take a look at two of the most popular buying choices when it comes to mattresses; memory foam and spring or coil. You can take a look at trusted reviews for both of these choices; to help you make a decision. We are going to list some of the most important purchase considerations, when buying a mattress, and see how the two different options measure up.

Purchase price

A spring mattress is usually cheaper to buy than a memory foam mattress. They are not especially complicated to manufacture and have remained pretty much the same over the years. Memory foam mattresses are far more complicated to construct and have more layers; it makes sense that additional costs involved are passed on to the customer, in terms of purchase price.

 Support

If you have problems with pain in your back, neck or shoulder you should think about buying a mattress that provides you with support. The springs in a spring mattress simply tend to push the pressure back into your body, so you do not get the same level of support you do when sleeping on a memory foam mattress. Memory foam uses the heat from your body to help it mould around you when you sleep. This means that your body is fully supported, including all the pressure points. This level of support can help to relieve some of the aches and pains you may be experiencing. It can also help you to get a better night’s sleep. This is important if you want to be able function well during the day.

Length of life

It makes sense that when you are buying a new mattress you want to make sure that it lasts. You do not want to be in a situation where you frequently have to replace your mattress. If you want a mattress that is going to last for a long period of time, memory foam is a better choice than springs. The make-up of a memory foam mattress means that you can expect it to take more wear and tear than a normal spring mattress. This is reflected in the fact that you normally get a longer warranty with a memory foam mattress.

If you are in the market for a new mattress in 2016 you can see what sort of attributes you should be considering. You have to think about whether you should pay more initially and get a mattress that provides more support and lasts longer. If you want to do this then a memory foam mattress is probably your best choice.
