Gensler’s vision for London’s celebrations in 2012 is to create a new river park in the very heart of the City, connecting some of the world’s most visited tourist attractions. The urban, horizontal icon would provide the first continuous riverwalk along the northern shore of the Thames River, activating the underutilized stretch of river frontage between Blackfriars and the Tower of London with a design that endeavours to maintain the dramatic pace of regeneration stimulated by the Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge. Completion is marked for 2012 to coincide with significant London events, including the Queens Diamond Jubilee, the London Olympic Games and the Lord Mayor’s Pageant.
