Hellerup Manor, home of Carl Hansen & Søn’s owner and CEO, Knud Erik Hansen is a poster child of Danish Housing,a historic home filled with beautiful Danish wares designed by the family’s company. Although the Hellerup Manor House was mentioned for the first time in 1419, it has been renovated numerous times since it was first built. The oldest part of the current building dates from the baroque period in 1670.
The building features many original details, including wide floorboards and tall white panels, which beautifully contrast with the various wall colors, including ocher and English red. The attic of this heritage listed home has become a showroom for the company’s furniture . The top floor of Hellerup Manor House thus presents some of the world’s – and Denmark’s – other greatest furniture designers.
“Our home furnishing style is unfettered and follows our own taste. We have purposely avoided using 1670-style or very modern furniture. We have brought our furniture together and purchased additional antiques, and there are also many products from Carl Hansen & Søn and Rud. Rasmussen which match our interiors very well. We feel that each room is a surprise. I spent several years in South Africa and Asia, and I have tried to place the various items I brought home then and from my travels in the same regions so they complement each other.” Knud Erik Hansen
