Sorrento Apartment in the heart of the Sorrento Peninsula (Italy), is a beautiful take on contemporary living – La Casa Millerighe, an exquisitely renovated 100 m² apartment with a breathtaking terrace, represents the vision of architect Valentina Autiero. Completed in 2023 and beautifully captured through the lens of photographer Carlo Oriente.

Originally a modest vacation home, La Casa Millerighe has been transformed into a year-round family residence. Nestled in the captivating landscape of the Sorrento Peninsula, it offers a spectacular sea view, harmoniously blending with its surroundings. Autiero’s vision is a testament to the fluid and sleek architectural language that characterizes her work, distinguished by refined linearity and a continuous interplay of perspectives.

Upon the initial site visit, the potential of the space was immediately apparent. The square floor plan, open on three sides, lent itself to a radical reimagining of the interior. Autiero’s design philosophy centers on the dynamic dialogue between spaces and the natural light they receive. This focus was crucial in redistributing the space to meet the functional needs of a modern family home.

The transformation involved discarding the old layout in favor of an open-plan design. This new arrangement facilitates fluid interaction between different areas, catering to the varied needs and preferences of the residents. Custom-made furniture and unconventional interpretations of space play a pivotal role in this metamorphosis.

A striking feature of La Casa Millerighe is the consistent flow of parallel lines that thread through the entire space. This motif is not just a design element but a narrative that defines and suggests the use of each area. The residence stands out for its fluid and dynamic scheme, where spaces seamlessly connect, offering continuous visual references and a harmonious chromatic palette.
