In Rome’s E.U.R. district, Maria Adele Savioli reinterprets a 160-square-metre apartment, crafting Casa Viale della Tecnica as a study in refined restraint and material interplay. The renovation embraces the property’s original Venetian flooring and exposed concrete, using these elements as visual and structural foundations for a contemporary transformation.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The redesign focuses on openness and flow. Savioli reimagines the spatial layout to foster continuity between the interior and the terrace that wraps around the home. The living area, positioned as the heart of the apartment, is marked by exposed ceiling beams that define sightlines and create a sense of rhythm. Glass partitions separate the kitchen from the entrance without obstructing light or movement, allowing the spaces to remain visually connected.

Material contrasts are central to the project’s identity. The kitchen’s steel and brushed aluminium surfaces are complemented by the warmth of okoumé wood, which forms a substantial custom furnishing that subtly divides the social and private zones. A distinctive architectural volume runs through the apartment, integrating storage, a bookcase, and a study, while also concealing entry to the sleeping quarters. A corridor in powder blue leads quietly to more intimate spaces.

Every built-in element and door is custom-designed and handcrafted, underscoring Savioli’s commitment to detail and material quality. The living room features the Salto Basso table from MAS Design, co-founded by Savioli herself, crafted from sand, cement, water, and brushed aluminium. Its sculptural presence and tactile finish echo the apartment’s balance of solidity and softness.

Casa Viale della Tecnica is defined by its subtlety and precision: a home where every detail, whether bold or discreet, is considered. The result is an environment of understated elegance, where light, material, and space are in quiet conversation.
