For 3daysofdesign 2025 in Copenhagen, Garde Hvalsøe unveils Deltag, an exhibition built around interaction, observation, and connection. Running from June 18 to 20, the showcase transforms the brand’s showroom into a setting where design doesn’t sit behind a barrier, it moves, shifts, and responds to those inside it. The word deltag, meaning “participate” in Danish, sets the tone. Visitors receive more than a display, they take part.
DESIGN
Danish stylist Pernille Vest curates the space with this in mind. She draws from references like boutique hotels, modern cafés, and restaurants to create a lived-in environment. Her goal is not to create spectacle, but to encourage presence. Light, texture, and material lead the experience, not labels or function. Vest invites people to sit, listen, feel surfaces, and slow down.

Collaboration and Craft at the Center
Deltag includes pieces by De La Espada, Neri & Hu, and Manuel Aires Mateus. These contributors join Garde Hvalsøe in shaping a physical dialogue between architecture, interiors, and craftsmanship. Rather than isolate objects on plinths, the exhibition places them in a setting that breathes. The furniture holds meaning through use, tables welcome cups, seats hold guests, and material carries weight.

Garde Hvalsøe also uses the exhibition to launch the new Koshi-do Armoire, a freestanding bathroom cabinet in solid cherry wood. The design comes from ongoing collaboration with OEO Studio and continues the Koshi-do series. Vertical wooden slats define the cabinet’s facade, creating a rhythm of shadow and light. This piece references Japanese design principles, balance, spatial clarity, and restraint, filtered through a Nordic lens. The cabinet feels open yet grounded, minimal yet warm.

More Than a Showroom
The Garde Hvalsøe showroom steps into a different role for the event. It functions not as a retail space, but as a living environment where people and design meet on equal terms
CEO Søren Lundh Aagaard reflects on the company’s ongoing work with De La Espada: “Our collaboration has deepened my respect for their approach to furniture making. It reminds me that true craftsmanship crosses borders and generations. We welcome guests into a space that brings carpentry to life – through use, not display.”
Vest also shares her view: “For me, Deltag is about creating quiet moments of connection. A space where light, texture, and materiality invite you to slow down, be present, and become part of the space.”
