Vudafieri-Saverino Partners have recently completed work on the new Delvaux flagship store in Tokyo, located in the center of Omotesando, a chic shopping area surrounded with the stores of the biggest names in worldwide fashion.

Since 2012, the Milan-based architecture firm has been in charge of the global idea for the Delvaux boutique. Their most recent interior design work fits in perfectly with the Maison’s visual language while also maintaining its own distinctive identity. The Maison was established in Brussels in 1829. The brand’s new Tokyo store pays attention to the area’s history and culture while also celebrating the heritage of the oldest and most prominent luxury leather goods company in the world, its Belgian identity, and its superb craftsmanship.

Delvaux, which currently has more than 40 locations worldwide, has obviously made a wise choice in terms of location. Its flagship location in Tokyo, which spans two floors and 250 square meters, is part of the renowned Omotesando Hills, a shopping center created by the well-known Japanese architect Tadao And. A large golden tree inspired by the crown of the Delvaux logo climbs from the lower level up to the first floor of the newstore’s striking front, a spectacular 20m high glass facade, and serves as both a backdrop and an artistic display case for the goods on display. The Belgian flag’s colors are used to accent portions of the storefront at the entrance, and Delvaux’s distinctive personality is visible throughout the space in the furnishings, opulent materials, and lighting choices.

The interiors were designed by Claudio Saverino and Tiziano Vudafieri as a series of open, beautiful spaces, each with a distinct personality that instantly reflect the brand’s distinctive elegance, taste, and attention to detail. The entrance greets the client into a comfortable environment that is characterized by wood flooring, hand-finished white walls, and understated, minimalist wall displays.

The curved shelf is a modern interpretation of the famous Flemish cabinet that may be found in various forms in each Delvaux store. A large-scale representation of the Grand Place in Brussels, with its decorative and aesthetic wealth embracing the entire area and going as far as the upper floor, borders the stairway leading up to the store’s most astounding and outstanding location. In order to give visitors a fully immersive experience that borders on the strange, the black and white photographs of the Gothic and Baroque structures of the Grand Place serve as the ideal backdrop for the colors and shapes of the Delvaux bags and accessories. The lounge area, which is a sort of cabinets de curiosités completely covered in burgundy velvet, is located on the ground floor and looks out onto this quaint European square. The Delvaux Bar, with its burnished brass counter, serves as both a meeting place for customers and a display for the leather goods.

The wrought iron handrail of the staircase bears homage to the original from Delvaux’s renowned flagship store in Brussels, which dates back to the seventeenth century. The Grand Place’s black and white skyline rises up from the lower floor to resemble a parapet, framing the upper floor’s views of the elegant, tree-lined Omotesando Avenue and providing an evocative, surreal backdrop for the store’s distinctive experience. A private lounge with custom furniture and a priceless silk and wool rug by Golran may be found in this area. With six wooden wall lights created by Frank Lloyd Wright and made by the venerable Japanese company Yamagiwa, the chandelier, which was specially created by Vudafieri-Saverino Partners, commands attention.
