Earlier this year, Fondaction designed by Chevalier Morales unveiled its new headquarters in Montreal’s Ville-Marie district, establishing a new standard for smart and sustainable building design in Quebec. This project represents modern adaptability, accommodating evolving professional practices.
A Responsible Automated System
With environmental stewardship as a priority, the building incorporates advanced systems aimed at minimizing maintenance needs and operational costs while extending its lifecycle. As a carbon-neutral structure, the headquarters adheres to high sustainability standards. A fully automated management system ensures optimized energy use, maintaining a balanced and efficient environment across its spaces.
The building’s intelligent features include automated load-shedding, continuous energy monitoring, and carbon dioxide control in high-traffic areas to maintain air quality. High-performance aerothermal systems are employed for heating and cooling, alongside an air treatment unit boasting approximately 90% efficiency. Salvaged materials from a selective deconstruction process were integrated into the design, further emphasizing the project’s eco-conscious approach.
User-Centric Design
The Fondaction headquarters goes beyond a conventional renovation, reflecting a forward-thinking response to the changing dynamics of work environments. With hybrid work arrangements on the rise, the space is designed to support flexibility and adaptability. Modular and unassigned workstations cater to employees’ varied schedules and shifting needs, offering a modern solution for professional collaboration.

Aligning with Fondaction’s values, the workspace prioritizes user comfort and experience. Climate control systems, circadian lighting, and the infusion of natural light into shared and private spaces increase the overall environment. This thoughtful design not only supports productivity but also promotes well-being among employees and visitors.
A Focus on Collaboration
Encouraging connection and interaction, the headquarters integrates numerous spaces designed for collaboration and community-building. Meeting rooms, lounges, and relaxation zones are interwoven with community areas to encourage creativity and dialogue. Bright corridors, intentionally positioned to maximize natural light, create opportunities for informal conversations and inspire a sense of energy within the workplace. Further enhancing the building’s functionality, a rooftop terrace offers outdoor workspaces and social areas, blending professional needs with moments of relaxation.
A Firm Driving Innovation
Chevalier Morales, known for its extensive portfolio of cultural and institutional projects across Quebec, demonstrates a strong commitment to forward-thinking design. Through a mix of research and practical applications, the firm has redefined workplace architecture, creating environments that are both sustainable and adaptable.
