VRODA Clinic & Spa, designed by MAKHNO Studio, is a contemporary wellness haven located in the Mediterranean. The project balances clinical efficiency with a visually soothing environment, redefining traditional notions of healthcare spaces. Designed as more than a medical facility, VRODA is a curated space where nature and modern design create an immersive experience for visitors.
The Vision Behind the Design
The primary challenge of the project was to break away from conventional clinical aesthetics, replacing sterile, rectangular forms with flowing, organic shapes. Drawing inspiration from nature, the design incorporates soft lines, natural materials, and custom lighting to create a calming atmosphere. Each area of the clinic is infused with unique design concepts, offering a cohesive experience while allowing for functional variety. This approach results in an interior that feels as much like an art gallery as it does a healthcare space.
A Thoughtfully Organized Space
Spanning two floors, VRODA Clinic & Spa integrates several zones, each with a specific function and design identity. Careful planning ensures smooth transitions between spaces, with curved walls and ceilings maintaining a sense of fluidity throughout. Visitors navigate intuitively, aided by the organic forms and thoughtful layouts.
Reception and Corridors
The reception area welcomes guests with its minimalist design, where walls, floors, and ceilings flow together as a unified surface. Central to this space is a series of oversized, sun-shaped lamps with inlays of dried flowers, reinforcing the connection to natural elements. Moving through the clinic, the corridors are anything but ordinary. Wavy walls, curved ceilings, and soft lighting create an almost futuristic ambiance. Handcrafted mirrors and art objects from the ZEMLYA collection by Serhii Makhno bring additional depth and creativity to these transitional spaces.
Spaces for Relaxation
A cozy lounge area provides a retreat where guests can unwind after treatments. Soft furniture, light curtains for privacy, and a soothing color palette contribute to the relaxed atmosphere. The design encourages peace and comfort, aligning with the overall goal of creating a stress-free environment.
Treatment rooms are designed with panoramic windows to let natural light fill the space, while smooth wall and ceiling forms create a sense of continuity. Warm, sun-like ceiling lamps and live plant arrangements introduce an organic touch, supporting a holistic approach to wellness.
On the lower level, the spa zone offers a range of treatments, including hammams, saunas, and Jacuzzis. A tropical shower takes center stage in this area, featuring intelligent controls for light and water that guests customize using voice commands or AI.
Exclusive VIP and Private Areas
The VIP zone provides a secluded space for premium spa and clinical treatments. Complete with massage rooms, a hammam, plunge pools, and relaxation areas, it offers a highly personalized experience. Unique ceramic lamps, such as the QUADROLAMP and the KHMARA art lamp, increase the aesthetic, combining artistry with functionality.
The Café and Additional Experiences
Located underground, the café evokes a modernized cave with natural textures, live plants, and art sculptures by Serhii Makhno. Adjacent to the café, a sunken terrace offers a peaceful outdoor retreat. Additional spa experiences include aroma rooms, snow chimneys, alpine herb spaces, and hay rooms, each offering visitors a unique sensory escape.
