Maison de Maître by Hans Verstuyft Architecten

ghent-8

Hans Verstuyft Architecten did not have an easy task on their hands when they got enlisted to renovate a town house in Ghent (Belgium). The architects found a house in decades of neglect, with a client looking for a contemporary take on the classical property.

RESIDENTIALGET INSPIRED ON ARCHISCENE

While renovating the house in a contemporary manner the architects have also taken on an important job of preserving the classical elements of the original design. While the front facade was in neglect the rear building was entirely ruined by the years of decay. For their “Maison de Maître” project in Ghent the Hans Verstuyft Architecten have taken the former coach house and transformed it into a modern kitchen tying in the space with the back garden, thus the dining room itself is basically part of the massive garden. Open in the summer and a sort of a green house in the winter.
