On the occasion of this year’s Milan Design Week, Azimut Yachts has joined forces with Michele De Lucchi‘s AMDL CIRCLE studio for “The Sea Deck” installation conceived as a floating promenade on the Darsena waterfront.
The installation invites guests to explore the new Seadeck Series yachts’ environmental technologies and experience the essence of this line – returning to nature. As a result, sustainable and recyclable materials were incorporated into its construction, such as the flooring made from two million recycled bottle corks that will be repurposed as architectural insulation.
I am proud to present to the world, on the occasion of the event par excellence for to design, the Azimut Yachts revolution: boats with a green heart, the result of twenty years of research, for a new way of experiencing the sea.
– said Giovanna Vitelli, chair of Azimut | Benetti Group.
Seadeck is the first series of hybrid motor yachts intended specifically for families and is also Azimut’s most energy-efficient design to date. A new product line that exemplifies the concept of going back to one’s natural surroundings, due to innovative technical solutions that cut emissions by up to forty percent and the Fun Island, a reimagined aft terrace that “embraces” the water and creates a new lifestyle paradigm that is centered on one’s sense of well-being. This cutting-edge idea was conceived and developed in collaboration with Alberto Mancini and Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez, who are all making their first appearances in the world of sailing,
We need to change our way of understanding sustainability, our mentality and our approach to nature. We designed The Sea Deck to give visitors the opportunity to experience the relationship with the waters of the Darsena and the urban space in an unexpected way, and discover a hidden piece of nature in Milan.
– said the architect Michele De Lucchi.
Visitors had the opportunity to walk barefoot on cork over water. Five interactive stations recounting the story of the new series of hybrid yachts created by Azimut in response to its challenge to reduce CO2 and energy consumption. Each station represented one of the adopted innovative solutions.
