FLV ARQUITECTURA have recently completed their latest hospitality project in Cordoba, Argentina – GRABEAT. The studio has been tasked with extending the original premises, which operated on a take away basis. A scale modification is then recommended, in which the location transforms its appearance and idea to a food area, allowing clients to live in the location and feel as if they were in a market. From the architects: GRABEAT is a composite concept that is integrated by the words “grab”, “beat” “eat”

The idea is to eat on the street, with hands and in freedom to generate the sensations of traveling, of pleasure.

The architecture studio is entrusted with the extension of the original premises, which worked under the “take away” modality. An adjustment of scale is then proposed where the place changes its image and concept to a food space that allows to receive customers to live the place and feel “like in a market”.

Under that concept and with teamwork with the partners of the brand; María Cecilia López and Maximiliano Zuin; we sought to generate a concept of central kitchen in sight, where all the senses and concepts of street food and art are combined. Everything that happens inside, in a few meters, is shared and coexists. Sounds, aromas, talks and commands. Multiple materials, lights, neon lights, textures and colors are also combined in a space of an identity as unique and as it is general and globalized.

The façade of the building to which the premises belongs is freed from all openings and limits to invite diners to enter an extension of the public space. A first great sensory impact is then generated where each one decides in which part of the world he wants to feel, even for a moment.

The continuous guide that led the whole project in each selection was to generate different sensations and situations where to sit down to enjoy the dishes of the place, either on a bar, on the bench of the sidewalk, at intimate tables or in a group. For this last corner, a more intimate space is generated by a circle of translucent yellow PVC curtains that provide reflections and see neon situations that happen behind them.

A large mural painted by the local artist “el lolo” defines a large-scale spatial impact increasing the effect of street and Street sensation that is what is sought to highlight in each of the elements that make up this design. In the same way, on the walls that hide the doors of the toilets of the premises, the graphic designer of the local Natalia Páez designs and assembles a “layout” of each of the posters of the different fairs and events that the brand made over the years.
