AR Arquitectos approaches Gavión House as a contemporary residence built around movement, sequence, and material experience. The house does not rely on instant impact. It draws attention through a gradual progression of courtyards, voids, material changes, and transitional spaces. Each area opens slowly into the next, allowing the residents to experience the house through rhythm, pause, and filtered light.

HOUSING

The project follows an introspective logic. Instead of turning outward through spectacle, Gavión House looks inward and builds its character through spatial order. The design creates a controlled domestic experience where circulation matters as much as the rooms themselves. Movement through the house reveals concrete planes, gabion walls, perforated masonry screens, and courtyards in stages, giving each material and space a clear role in the larger composition.

AR Arquitectos draws from contemporary Latin American architecture, with particular reference to Paulo Mendes da Rocha. The project takes cues from Paulista Brutalism through its use of exposed structure, material honesty, and a direct relationship between weight and openness. Gavión House studies mass and void through a horizontal composition that stretches across a single level. Concrete gives the residence a strong architectural base, while gabion walls add texture, depth, and a natural roughness to the exterior language.

AR Arquitectos leaves concrete, stone, and masonry with their raw qualities visible, allowing the exterior to communicate through weight, texture, and construction. Perforated masonry screens filter views and light, creating moments of privacy while keeping the architecture connected to air and shadow. These elements give the residence a quiet intensity, with every surface contributing to the experience of moving through the home.

Inside, the project shifts toward a warmer domestic mood. Wood, light-toned textiles, and furniture with restrained proportions soften the heavier exterior materials. Simple lines guide the interiors, allowing texture and light to lead the experience. Natural light enters through controlled openings and passes across surfaces with a measured rhythm, changing the way rooms feel throughout the day.

The program covers approximately 405 m² on one level. AR Arquitectos organizes the residence with clarity, giving the users a functional plan that supports daily life while maintaining spatial continuity. The horizontal layout connects rooms to courtyards and outdoor areas, creating a constant relationship between interior space and the surrounding environment.
