Philippe Starck Tower designed by the team of architects behind the residential YOO GYE skyscraper that will be built in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in conjunction with YOO Inspired by Starck, has been revealed by the company that will develop the project, Uribe Schwarzkopf. The Philippe Starck Tower with an expected height of 176 meters will be constructed in Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador, and will be situated along the Rio Guayas river, which passes through the city.

Philippe Starck, a French designer and the leader of YOO Inspired by Starck, referred to the structure as a “paradise” intended for the delight of the people who would live in it. “YOO Inspired by Starck” The residential tower will have 46 stories and feature a total of 633 units that will be organized in blocks that are staggered further and further apart as the building becomes taller.

YOO projects, and YOO GYE in particular, are about ‘you’, I wanted to create a place that draws people together, that makes them laugh, makes them more in love, more sparkling, more intelligent.I wanted to create fertile surprises to awake people, to create conversations, to create interactions and to trigger creativity. A place where us, humans, are at its heart. YOO GYE will be this place, this island, this sort of paradise designed for the happiness of the people who will live in it.” shared  YOO Inspired by Starck creative director Philippe Starck.

A striking sequence of arches, will create an outdoor space that, according to the developer, will incorporate social spaces as well as native vegetation.

In addition to the residential units, the tower will feature a plethora of amenities such as a health club, swimming pools both indoor and outdoor, a movie theatre, and a “party room,” as well as retail space on the lower levels. The architectural renderings of the skyscraper show it situated in a more rural area; nevertheless, it is planned to be constructed in the Puerto Santa Ana neighbourhood of downtown, which already contains a number of other high-rise structures.

The exterior will be encased in a combination of glass and stone and will have several arches, which are characterized as a common theme prevalent in the area. YOO GYE creates a modern basic design for functional living by combining the earthy textures of soft woods and stones with robust, high-sheen glass and metal finishes. The firm places a conscious emphasis on using local resources such as limestone.
